Team Update

Hello everyone!

It has been a busy semester at Book Forest Tutoring, and I thought I would go ahead and give an update to the goings-on of Book Forest.

This fall, I had my second son, Walton Woods Sottek, and took a 4 month maternity leave to get in all the baby cuddles and snuggles. It was such a joyful time to be with my growing family, and I am so thankful for the opportunity to learn more about Wally and who he is and will become. He is wiggly, happy, and truly, our sunshine.

While I took a step away, the Lord was also so kind and providential to bring one of my past colleagues and collaborators to my team, Kelly Sweat, also a mom to 3 boys. Kelly graciously onboarded a few of my students in the Fall and has been working and growing the company ever since.

Book Forest was always intended to be a collective, an umbrella of educators that have a similar perspective on walking alongside kids and meeting them where they are, giving them tools to help navigate difficult moments in the general classroom setting.

Kelly has been a true answer to prayer and has allowed more students to be serviced during my moment of transition.

This being said, I am so happy to say that we are both working this Spring and have been pulling together resources and helping middle school students navigate new skills, reading, essays, and the workload that 3rd and 4th quarter bring.

As a belated welcome to the team, look out for another blog post of our joint recommendations for summer reading.

We are so thankful for you and your expertise. Welcome, Kelly!
